Family Transformation

Posted on by Michael James

The bus rolled into the parking lot on Saturday evening. Forty-nine students and a dozen adult leaders poured through the bus doors into a crowd of awaiting parents. We were all exhausted, but happy after the fruitful week at Southwind Camp.

Kasey is on of our campers who began his journey to faith in Chrsit near the end of last school year. Through our ongoing relationship with him,my leaders and I were unable to be sure he had a grasp of the Gospel. But, we were hoping that God might use camp to help Kasey say a definitive 'Yes' to being a Christ follower. In one of the final nights, after all the fun, club times, small groups, cabin discussions and one to one appointments, Kasey determined that faith in Jesus was his desire.

The Sunday morning after arriving back from camp, I got a text from Kasey' mom asking what time i was going to be at church. Kasey, his mom and little sister wanted to meet me there. They came to church and wanted to sit near the front. That very morning Kasey's mother signed up two of her youngest children for the Awana program. The following Sunday the entire family attended church. These are encouraging signs of life change. Kasey was motivated to encourage his family to attend church.

Many of our campers said 'Yes' to faith in Christ for the first time in their lives. I greatly appreciate your faithful and consistent prayer and financial support as we press forward with the Gospel. We do all this becasue every student needs to be transformed by the powerful grace and mercy of Jesus.
